Generation IV International Forum (GIF): 8th edition of Atoms for the Future

16 October 2018 – 18 October 2018

Paris, France

The NICE Future initiative gave a keynote address at the fourth symposium of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), which was held in October 2018 in conjunction with the Atoms for the Future 2018 Conference. Atoms for the Future has been organized by the French Nuclear Society Young Generation Network (Société Française d'Energie Nucléaire Jeune Génération) since 2010. The 2018 event was attended by more than 300 participants, including students, young professionals, policy makers and nuclear stakeholders.

GIF is an international cooperative with 14 national members—including NICE Future initiative leads Canada, the United States and Japan—established to carry out the research and development needed to establish the feasibility and performance capabilities of the next generation ("generation IV") nuclear energy systems.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. S. Golub, U.S. DOE Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Technology Research and Development. The keynote helped build a cross-sectoral dialogue about how nuclear energy can contribute to larger clean energy systems.
