Bringing Nuclear Into the Clean Energy Conversation: About the NICE Future Initiative

Nuclear energy—which provides about one-third of the world’s emissions-free electricity—contributes to the global clean energy supply, both as a primary source of clean energy and by enabling other clean energy sources.

As an international initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial, The Nuclear Innovation: Clean Energy Future (NICE Future) initiative leads the global conversation on the roles nuclear energy can play in clean energy systems of the future.

Rather than focus on specific technologies or issues, we aim to address nuclear energy holistically within the context of broader clean energy systems. Our primary goal is to move nuclear energy from traditional, nuclear-only fora to broader, cross-sectoral discussions about clean energy at the ministerial and working levels in more countries.

We do this by engaging diverse stakeholders—including both nuclear and non-nuclear energy decision makers—to focus on full-scale nuclear for electricity as well as on innovative next-generation technologies and integrated renewable-nuclear energy systems. We also offer regular webinars on nuclear and clean energy topics and a resource library with the latest academic research on this.

Who We Are
